In our never-ending quest to do more with bamboo we came upon the idea of making bamboo soap using our own bamboo.
We didn’t limit ourselves to only bamboo soap. We also have sea salt bars, activated charcoal and pine resin bars, and apricot oil soap bars. There’s even a Japanese Crane shaped ginger soap.
Our soap shapes are traditional Japanese designs made from molds from Japan.
These decorative and functional bars of soap are great for everyday use and they make perfect gifts for weddings, bridal showers, open houses, and other special events.
We hand make our soap bars right here at the nursery. The bamboo as well as the pine resin come from our own plants.
Our soaps are palm oil free and come in both olive oil and lard based recipes. All of our recipes contain shea butter, along with rice bran oil and a small amount of coconut oil.
We formulated our own soap recipes and tested quite a few before landing on ones that we like. None of our soaps contain any additional fragrances or colorings. The color of the soaps is a direct result of the ingredients in the soap itself. There are no mica pigments with questionable heavy metal oxides and other dyes.
Unscented soap still smells like soap. Although it’s very mild.
I personally can’t use products with strong scents. It’s so difficult to find unscented cleaning products in any store! There are many that give me a cough for hours following even a brief exposure. When we set out to make soap we specifically decided upon unscented soaps because I can’t be around strong fragrances.
Even our bars that contain pine resin and ginger don’t smell of those ingredients. What most people don’t realize is that the scents from the ingredients used in soap are lost during the soap making process. If you purchase scented soaps, that scent is a result of a heap of excess fragrances being added in at the last step of the soap making process. Pine soap doesn’t smell like pine on its own. Soap with pine resin in it just smells like soap on its own. Volatile essential oils and artificial fragrance oils produced in labs are what scent other soaps. We opted out of this practice. So our soap smells only mildly of soap and that’s all.
These are soaps that we use in our own home. Yes, we use our own soaps everyday. I’ve very much enjoyed not having overpowering scented soaps in the house since we’ve been making and using our own unscented soaps. There’s nothing excess in our soaps that doesn’t need to be there!
Stop by our handmade soap page and take a look at our soaps that our customers have described as, “wonderfully detailed”, “works of art”, and “truly beautiful.” We’re honored that people can say that about an everyday cleaning product!
